Overnight Caramel French Toast

Ingredients
1 stick salted butter
1c. light brown sugar
several ¾inch slices of Country Miche bread from Panera (or other thick bread)
5 eggs
1 ½ c. milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
Preparation
Melt butter in a small saucepan. Add brown sugar, mix, and simmer until syrupy.
Pour caramel into a 9x13in baking dish.
Cut crust off of bread slices. Place slices over caramel and fit to fill dish in a single layer.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar and salt. Pour egg mixture over bread layer. Cover dish and refrigerate overnight.
The next dayÉPreheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake dish, uncovered, for 35-40 min and then switch to broil for 2-3 additional minutes to brown the top slightly.
Makes 6-8 servings.
