Greetings all,
Most of you reading this will have been at the event today, but on the off chance that we get an out-of-state visitor or two (HELLO ENGLAND!), we wanted to fill everyone in.
Elizabeth was baptized today. Things went off without any problems at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newport News, VA. We all made it to the early service (which was a miracle). We had Mom, Dad, Sister, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents galore, and Friends all in attendance.
Elizabeth did not make a sound during the event (which would have cost Dad a LOT of money had there been any money riding on the event). She was quite the little trooper. Was adorable and lovely and everything a little girl should be.
Elizabeth was baptized in a very special gown. Previous wearers include (in reverse chronological order), Cousin Lukas, Cousin Lydia, Abby, Uncle Matt (Dad’s Brother), Auntie Anna (Dad’s Sister), Dad, and Great Grandpa Pfautsch (Dad’s Mother’s Father). Quite a lot of history in one little garment. She also wore Tricia’s Great Grandmother’s bonnet, which has also been worn by each generation since. They made the day that much more special.
I’ll get a post up of just Ellie in her gown in the next few days (HAHAHAHA! Days!?! More like weeks) so the details can be shared by all.
For now, here are some photos from the after party!
Enjoy,
J
Where the holy event took place. She took quite a dousing. We were warned ahead of time about that but it still took me a little by surprise when I saw how much water Pastor Guy used. Ellie didn’t make a sound!
The church makes a banner for every child baptized. That’s right – custom banner for Every. Single. Child. Very nice.
Here we are with Auntie Anna, Abby and Ellie’s God mother. Uncle Erik (God father) couldn’t make it because he was playing the organ at the BEST DARN CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA! We missed him. Maybe I should do a terrible photochop and just stick him into the background.
Tricia, Ellie, and Granddad Geyer. Somehow Grandma Geyer got out of being in the photo. Not sure how she pulled that off, but she did. We’ll get her next time!!
Ellie with Mimi, PopPop, and Aunt Amanda.
Ellie and her Gran. Gran made the hat Ellie is wearing as well as the cape and blanket. The gown was first worn by her father during his baptism 99 years ago. Such beautiful work.
Ellie relaxing with Great-Granddad Geyer.
Clara is a friend of Abby’s and was kind enough to come to the baptism and after party. There is something very 70’s-ish about this photo that really grabs me.
Clara’s older brother Jack. I had to get a photo of him with his lime green socks. Just awesome.
Abby in the dress Gran made for her to wear. Very lovely.
And, as Cher would say…And this is the back!
The three cousins together. So stinkin’ cute you can hardly stand to look at them.
My 2nd favorite photo from the afternoon. This little dude is so full of energy and character. He just lit up in front of the camera. I had to force myself to delete some of his session photos because there were just TOO MANY OF THEM!!!
Abby usually gets the last spot but the winner of “Best Photo” goes to Lydia! Such a stunning look on her face. She looks like she’s about 16. Her dad had better start working on that shotgun now!
What a blessing to be there for Ellie’s baptism! Love the pictures!
Such lovely reminders of a day of great blessing.
These are so wonderful!

Oh my goodness Jacob, you have outdone yourself again! Would you send us copies of the pictures of Abby, Lydia and Lukas? That picture melts my heart!
