So, the Bean turned 1 almost two weeks ago and we finally got around to posting some pictures…okay, *I* finally got around to it! Tricia has been bugging me for a week and we finally had some time to do a post.
True to the nature of “second children,” Ellie’s actual birthday was a family affair. We had cake and presents after dinner and she seemed to enjoy offering the cake to us rather than eat it herself. Don’t get me wrong, she put down some cake, but after a few handfuls of icing and some cookies, she became more interested in shoveling cake into OUR faces!
She didn’t quite understand the whole wrapping paper concept but she enjoyed what came INSIDE those packages. She cried like a banshee when we finally put her down to bed (1 HOUR LATE!) because she wanted to play with Auntie Anna’s nesting owls.
Her big thing now is putting things into bags/boxes and then taking them out again. It’s pretty adorable but we are finding “objects” in “containers” throughout the house. I found a tupperware container in the trash can the other day and one of my baby rattles in Abby’s backpack. It’s like a daily surprise – you never know what you’re going to find and when.
The next day was Friday and we had a few friends over for pizza. Ellie tried her hand at a cupcake and did just about as well as she did with the cake.
All in all it was a grand first birthday. Work is progressing on her headshots video but it won’t be ready for another few weeks. It’s coming, though…really.
Until then, enjoy the photos. And Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!!
Enjoy,
J
The first birthday cake. Ellie’s room is owls and that was her theme this year. Oreo cookies, Junior Mints, and Runts make up the “face” of this two-layered owl. Elizabeth DEMOLISHED it!
Trying on her first Birthday Hat! She wore it for a total of 2.4 seconds and then threw it on the floor. She’ll learn…
It’s the ladies!! Posing for a pre-cake photo. What you CAN’T see is the moment right after I took this where Elizabeth reached out to the candle and actually EXTINGUISHED the flame!! She got wax on her fingers and cried for a bit but was better once she started shoveling cake in her mouth. She looked like she just reached out and pinched the fire off the candle. It was awesome…and then sad, what with the crying and all.
Going to town on the owl. The cookies on the top were her favorite.
Too cute for words…well, except for those…and these…and…
Sisterly love, here. I like how Elizabeth looks like she’s offering her cheek to Abigail.
Elizabeth was definitely in a sharing mood.
More “sharing.” I say sharing in the sense that water boarding is “offering” someone something to drink! We are talking AGGRESSIVE feeding here. She wasn’t kidding around.
Everybody gets a turn at eating. This is how viruses are spread through a house.
PRESENTS!! She would have been happy carrying them around but we made her open them up.
A dog says…it’s a see and say spinny wheel of loud noises in the middle of the night!! Yay.
Playing with the nesting owls. Thanks Auntie Anna!
The delicious cupcakes that Tricia made for our friends. They were cute AND delicious.
Day two of processed sugar! What more could a baby ask for??
What an account of a monumental day!! I loved the photo of the sisterly love (Abby kissing her cheek) – TOOO precious.
Wow! She simply gets cuter and cuter!! So happy she likes the nesting owels! Can I come over and play with them with her?!?
