Abby was up at 0400.
Ellie was up at 0530.
We were all up at 0600 – mainly because Tricia and I needed to be up early to get the girls ready to leave by 0715.
We didn’t think they’d be up and dressed by 0605!
Oh well! The day was off to a good start. We all had a nice leisurely breakfast and waited for the sun to come up so we could do “off to school” photos.
The girls had picked out their outfits the night before. Ellie had no restrictions and chose a nice, pink dress. Abby had coordinated with some of the girls in her class to wear a white shirt and navy skirt.
Backpacks were packed. Lunches made. Everyone was good to go.
Photo time on the porch and then off they went. Growing up so fast.
Tricia later told me that Ellie cried when she was dropped off at her first day of Preschool. But, as Ellie told us this evening – “I laid down on the cry couch and then I perked up.” She came home happy. Abby came home happy.
The world turns and life continues in good ‘ole Suffolk, Virginia.
And now, the photos.
Enjoy,

Jacob and Tricia, thanks for making my evening enjoyable!! Abby and Ellie are so beautiful, and display such joy about their first day of school!!!
Jacob (and Tricia!) these are outstanding photos! What darling expressions! I especially love the ones with the parents ? The goofy one reminds me of when we used to take Christmas photos and the last one was always silly! So glad the day ended on a happy note – well done to all!
Adorable! Have a terrific school year girls!
The cry couch! I love it! How wonderful that the school has that – embrace your cry, get it out, move on. Thanks for sharing this moment! Love you all!
The pictures are wonderful, the children are beautiful and their parents are awsome! I wish I had a cry couch, I need it now!
