Yesterday Abby performed at the KROC Center in Hampton Roads in the STARRING ROLE of Anna in Disney’s Frozen Jr.
We were so proud of her – she was so grown up and professional. She hit every mark, nailed every note, and emoted the bejeesus out of her lines. She had half the audience in tears – and the other half were cold and dead inside!
Half the audience was made of our friends and family and we were very supportive.
I was able to get to dress rehearsal the week before and I took a ton of photos. You can pretty much flip through all of them and see a movie of the afternoon! Here is a “small” collection of my favorites.
I received a text message last night from one of the theater company’s staff members. Someone had sent her, unsolicited, the following text: Great show. We don’t make it to the theatre much, but please share with Ms. Wessler, who played Anna, that we were very impressed with her performance and we felt she performed beyond her years.
Amazing. Now, some photos!
Enjoy,
J
Gallery, the first:
This first set of photos is from Anna making her first appearance on stage. She sings a solo, For the First Time in Forever, and meets Hans of the Southern Isles. After a “short courtship” (read: three minutes), he proposes. The look on Abby’s face when he does this is priceless
Anna and Hans ask Elsa’s blessing and she has a little “frozen outburst” making it snow everywhere. She runs off, embarrassed, and heads towards the mountains because she is afraid she’ll hurt someone. Anna goes after her and meets a cast of characters – Kristof, an ice-slinging dude; Sven, his loyal Reindeer; Olaf, a crazy Snowman; and Oaken, a mountain-dwelling-philosophy-spouting-swimsuit-selling Scotslady.
The troupe arrives at Elsa’s frozen castle in the middle of the forrest and Anna tells Elsa that she has frozen all of Arendelle. Elsa tells Anna to leave her alone and sends the group back to the bottom of the mountain but not before blasting Anna with another shot to her heart. The group returns to Arendelle to get help for Anna and Hans shows his true colors. Note the look in Abby’s eyes when he is caressing her cheek…Anna really loves him.
Anna is finally saved but not before an act of true love shows Elsa how to reverse the permanent winter.
Big Finale.
CURTAIN!!
Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. They are amazing and so is my very talented, very beautiful great granddaughter. I love you very much and I would’ve done anything in the world to have been able to see this. Thank you again. Grandma Geyer
Wowie Zowie!! She’s incredible! We are soooo proud of you, Abby!
Wow! What a gorgeous show. She definitely has the Wessler stage presence!
Dreams do come true! 5 years ago I took Abby and Tricia to see Frozen on ICE and remember Abby being mesmerized by the show! She knew all the songs by heart and sang along with the skaters as she clutched her Elsa doll! Who knew that she would someday perform as Anna! ❄️ We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful, talented, smart, compassionate granddaughter! ?
