Greetings all,
I wanted to share a recent project with you.
Abby’s school, Trinity Lutheran School, has a new marketing campaign they are working on. I have been helping with the design of some print materials. I did a folder for them to give out to prospective parents. I have also done some photography for print ads.
BUT, two months ago, the Advancement Director asked if I would help with a video for the website! It was a bit outside my comfort zone but I decided to go for it. With my work schedule and the short time frame (the video was going to be unveiled at the Annual Fund Breakfast on the 22nd of March), there was only one day available to shoot!!
It was funny – the first draft of the schedule didn’t even have a bathroom break built into it! That’s how tight the filming was. We had to get enough footage to cover everything in just one day.
So, I showed up to Abby’s school at 0730 on morning and spent 7 hours filming kids. We went all over the school filming background footage, the kids doing school-type stuff, electives, kids in front of the camera, etc! It was quite a busy day and I can’t remember the last time I was that sore.
Over the next 6 weeks, I spent most of my free time upstairs in the “editing suite.” It’s amazing how much time a 2 minute and 45 second movie can take!! Tricia was a HUGE help providing much needed insight and an outsider’s perspective. Between the two of us, we got a rough draft in place. Kate, the advancement director, came over to see it and made some changes. Another week of replacing footage, color correction, and sweetening the sound and I came up with a final product.
The launch went off great and feedback has been universally positive. It’s no Sundance film, but it will look GREAT on the TLS website.
So, without further ado – here is “I am…TLS” in all its glory. Credits are below the movie.
Enjoy,
J

Oh WOW!!! Great job, Jacob!! Very artistic work, as usual. We loved it!
Nicely done, Jacob. I liked how you showed the variety that TLS offers and the diversity among the student body. The children were wonderful representatives with a convincing message!! I know your efforts will be rewarded.
Jacob,
The video is wonderful! You did such a wonderful job capturing Abby’s wonderful school. I’m so glad she had a cameo in the video. I did laugh out loud when I saw her, she’s so cute! 🙂
Love,
Matt and Carley
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I love the end! With the cutest little pixie saying, “Who are you?” I’m tearing up! Great shots, great slow speaking, easy to understand and brings out the great qualities of the kids and the school! BRAVO to you, King Midas!
Wow, what a great job. I want to go to that school! I am serious, if I had school age children, I would want what Trinity offers.
LOVE it!! Can I teach there???????!!!!!!
You are ridiculously talented Jacob! We loved Abby’s cameos too…she is precious.
