OBX part deux…

So, we are well into Day 4 at the Outer Banks and are loving life. Gran and Grandpa Wessler came down yesterday and are enjoying a few days of rest and relaxation.

Ellie enjoyed her first day at the beach yesterday. She, unlike her sister at that age, LOVED the beach. The water, the sand, the sounds – all of it. At this age, Abby screamed her head off any time you came within 10 feet of the water. Ellie, however, loves being dipped right down in it. Doesn’t matter if it’s cold or spraying her in he face – just get her to the beach and get her in the water! She enjoyed chewing on her toys even after they were covered in sand. She had a blast on her first day. I’ll tell you, she has NEVER slept so well.

Today we enjoyed pancakes and sausages followed by a morning walk. We came back to the house for Ellie’s AM nap and Abby is playing in the pool. She would stay in the pool from 6AM until 8PM if we let her! Every second we aren’t in the pool is spent with her asking if we can get in the pool. Her favorite phrase is “since we’re on vacation…” followed by something that we don’t normally do. “Since we’re on vacation can I stay up late?” “Since we’re on vacation can I have dessert NOW?” And on and on.

Well, it’s almost time for lunch. Turkey sandwiches and chips for lunch. Meatballs and Gnocchi for dinner. Family photos on the beach tonight. Repeat tomorrow.

It’s good to be on vacation. Now, if only I could keep my Portsmouth e-mail inbox from filling up with e-mail!!!
