Well, that’s it…I’m a published photographer. Kind of weird to write it, but there it is. Not anything big, mind you. But, in print, published, with a photo credit. Naturally, I was too excited about getting in print that I forgot to ask for money! DOH! Not taking pictures for that…not yet, at least.
PCFC is a Parent’s support group at Walter Reed. Every year they have a Christmas Party at Andrews AFB and they do it BIG!! I was asked to take some photos this year and put together a DVD of the pics for next year’s fundraising campaign. I had a load of fun running around all afternoon shooting pics of the kids playing with the planes, guns, and Santa (that’s right…GUNS!!). I weeded out the chaf and got about 115 photos “worth saving.” (some more than others!). I burned a CD for the PCFC folks since they were the ones that wanted them to begin with and before you know it, the reporter from the Stripe is asking for permission to use them in her article.
The Stripe is a local paper published by Walter Reed for Staff and Patients of the hospital. Comes out weekly and prints news that is interesting to those of us that work at WRAMC. All of the photos on the page are mine. Funny, they were the ones I put in black and white. They also used a small color of Santa taxiing in on Air Force One (THAT’S RIGHT…AIR FORCE ONE!!) on the front page, but it’s tiny and what not. If you look closely enough at the blow-up (click on the pic above), you’ll see my name under the picture on the right.
So, there you have it. Published. It’s a shame I broke my flash taking these pictures!! Guess that’s the price you pay to get your work “out there!”
Regardless, it’s pretty freakin’ cool.

Update — Here is a link to the article in the Stripe. It might be a little easier to read than the picture.
